DOCTORS AND THE MACHINE.

As with many issues Lenin raises; few pick up on this one. Where is the outcry ? See the significance- a set-up for privatisation.

DOCTORS AND THE MACHINE

Welcome to the New Age OF HEALTH CARE!

Welcome to the WORLD OF THE POLYCLINIC!

The small business model of GP surgeries, run by individuals and partners, is to be swept into THE GUTTER OF CAPITALISM.

Large American companies will compete to establish Polyclinics near you, well, actually, not near you; somwhere central, such as 30 miles from you. £60 + in a taxi to Polly Pensioner.

THE MACHINE will convince THE MINDLESS that their plan will create ‘entrepreneurial energy’, ‘efficient management’,   ‘innovation’, ‘greater efficiency’, and meet the wishes of ‘health care consumers’. That, is the usual gloss will be applied to a system which is straight from the AMERICAN JUNK YARD OF CAPITALISM.

WHOOPEE for higher health service costs, the careful selection of low-cost patients, and putting profits first, second, and third.

Commercial companies ‘win’ contracts (having politicians and their families as directors) by reducing appointments for doctors, by using more nurses and healthcare assistants for first-contact tasks. These vultures typically employ lower paid, less skilled, foreign doctors, who are not party to national agreements about employment rights.

Your trip to THE POLYCLINIC will be free – for now! Just get on board THE TROJAN HORSE, which will offer a bog standard ride. If you take out an insurance policy (forms displayed in front of you), a much better service awaits. Just have a chat with our (commossion-based) receptionist/salesperson.

The NAME OF THE GAME is to make money for shareholders – American insurance companies, banks, and politicians and their families.

IF you can not grasp this, go and be ill in the HOUSE OF UNCLE SAM, where millions of Americans lack any insurance, and many plans offer poor coverage. In 2014, 64 million Americans struggled with medical debt, the leading cause of bankruptcy.  Many people pay for care by using credit cards, for emmergency visits, purchasing prescription medication, and hospital stays.

Just imagine this, the tv ad shows a concerned mother, bottom lip quivering, her child needs an emergency hospital visit, but how can she afford this? She suddenly smiles, pulls out her mobile, and dials PAY DAY MEDILOAN; those caring, helpful Samaritan scumbags who will get your child to hospital … don’t worry (for now) about the 1,000% interest rate!

THE MACHINE defends such practice, it’s all a matter of consumer choice, they keep spinning out.

RISE UP AGAINST THE MACHINE!

MARCH UNDER THE REVOLUTIONARY BANNER OF HUMANITY!

NATIONALISE ALL DOCTORS’ SURGERIES!

ONLY TRAIN DOCTORS WHO WILL WORK FOR A SALARY!

The RCN Charlatans of Nursing

THE RCN – CHARLATANS OF NURSING

As long ago as 2008, a study by UCSF university in America showed that for-profit chains of nursing homes had 30% less staff than their non-profit counterparts, a figure which included employing less registered nurses. Not surprisingly, they also had the sickest residents.

The top ten for-profit organisations had 41% more deficiences than their best non-profit counterparts, including failure to prevent pressure sores, resident weight loss, falls, infections, resident mistreatment, poor sanitary conditions, etc.

For-profit organisations which were acquired between 2003 and 2008 by asset-stripping vultures, alias  private equity companies, had more deficiencies after being acquired.

The authors of this study called for tough financial sanctions for low staffing and poor quality, which, in subsequent years, have been applied in America. Fines of over 20 million dollars have been levied on nursing home chains for their corporate liability in allowing poor care in a number of their nursing homes.

This is a serious punch in the face of corporate profits, wherehas in the UK such featherweight bodies as the CQC rarely impose fines of more than £10,000, which is no more than a slap in the face with cheap tissue paper.

This anaemic regime of punishment is the creation of the corporation-owned UK government. The ultimate aim is to maximise profits for the corporations which contribute to political party funds.

In America, nurses marched in 2012 in suporting the Robin Hood tax, a half percent tax on financial transactions, which was to fund worthy causes. They marched under the banner of National Nurses United, the association of American nurses’ unions, with many wearing Robin Hood masks. They called for all medicine be made into a government monopoly.

Oh what a far cry from the UK’s corporation-loving RCN, whose leadership would collectively feint at the thought of its members marching against capitalist ownership of health care. This pack of charlatans have recently endorsed a scheme whereby care assistants in nursing homes are to be ‘trained up’ to perform nursing tasks – the result, fewer (expensive) nurses.

I use the term charlatan pointedly. A dictionary definition of charlatan (also called swindler) is a person practising quackery or some similar confidence trick in order to obtain money, fame or other advantages via some form of pretense or deception. This is precisely what the RCN does. It takes subscription fees from registered nurses whilst supporting schemes which lessen their number. They will do the same when such schemes reach their final goal in UK hospitals – replacing all nurses with (relatively cheap) specialist nurse technicians.

They are like the owners of a passenger ship, who urge paying customers aboard knowing that the ship has a large hole in its side. They urge the new breed of care technician to board a shiny new ship, one without a hole. These passengers will pay less, but this ship will be packed tighter than sardines. It’s all about money, and the  survival of a nursing elite which feeds from the carcass of nursing.

They are aware of a number of studies which equate private equity ownership of nursing homes with poor care, but this seems to be a side issue to them.

Such supporters of the capitalist exploitation of care will welcome the ‘diversity of options’ propaganda line when hordes of blood-sucking (political-party-donating) companies set up  MRI and CT scan outlets in shopping parks, next to Diabetic Clinics,  Emmergency Departments., and supermarkets.

DOWN WITH THE CHARLATANS OF NURSING!

FORM A NATIONAL NURSES UNITED UNION (AS A BRANCH OF THE UNITE UNION).

COMRADE NURSES, MARCH AS ROBIN HOOD AGAINST THE EVIL SHERIFF OF CAPITALISM!

SUCCESSFUL SEXUAL ABUSERS IN NURSING HOMES

I remember it as if it were yesterday.

In a hospital lunch hour of 2010, I read a report in the Chicago Tribune about sexual violence in Chicago nursing homes.

Allegations of rape were reported in a quarter of the city’s nursing homes.

Only one of those cases resulted in an arrest.

No police reports were filed in connection with at least nine alleged sexual attacks.

The Tribune report told of the ‘terror endured by elderly and disabled women in some city nursing facilities where predatory males troll through common areas and unlocked bedrooms with little supervision’.

The predatory males were almost all fellow residents, younger than their victims, as Illinois houses younger psychiatric patients with violent criminal records in nursing homes with predominantly elderly residents. A bums on beds approach, driven by economics, which will inevitably be introduced in State funded nursing facilities in the UK.

In one home a a 61-year-old woman said she  was so scared that all she could beg was ‘No, no, no, please’.

In another home, a raped female resident was was admitted to hospital with a swollen black eye, a broken nose, and human bite marks.

No charges.

No questioning of why there was not enough staff to make for a safer environment.

No questioning of why for-profit nursing homes resist installing cameras on the pretence of human rights.

Can you honestly imagine that such abuse in not occurring in the UK?

Can you honestly imagine that the full extent of sexual abuse is not a regular feature of some nursing homes? – which includes any non-consensual sexual behavior forced on one person by another, include rape, kissing, fondling, voyeurism, exposure to pornography, or any sexually charged verbal act that is forced on confused residents by those attracted to a ‘honey pot’ of the vulnerable.

The perpetrators do not have criminal records simply because they have not been dicovered committing their abuse.

They are successful abusers who stalk understaffed nursing homes, which have no cameras, no microphones to listen to the cries of ‘No, no, no, please’.
